The fine folks behind Google Talk, interested in making sure the devs know what the users want them to do, have put up a page where you can suggest future changes to Google's IM client.

Options are:
  • Personalization
    - Rich text for outgoing chats
    - Additional smilies or emoticons
    - User profiles
    - Friend groups

  • Communication
    - Multi-user chats
    - Conference calls
    - Voicemail
    - Video conferencing
    - File sharing or transferring

  • Additional functionalities
    - Offline message delivery
    - Mac or Linux versions
    - Call and message encryption
    - Calls to landlines
    - Notification when friends come online
You can select up to five features. I chose, in order of their importance to me:
  • File sharing or tranferring

  • Multi-user chats

  • Calls to landlines

  • Voicemail

  • Friends groups
There's also a box for entering your suggestions. Mine was for tabbed IMs.

The suggestion page looked forever, and I thought, "Didn't Gmail used to have one of these?" That was confirmed when I saw that the page title referred to Gmail, not Google Talk, since they must have forgotten to change it when they copied the page. Gtalk team: Fix your title tag. Everyone else: Fill out your latest Gmail suggestions.
