IPhones Winning Over Enterprise Users

Enterprise messaging experts who aren't fond of the iPhone (and specifically, who aren't fond of the iPhone despite never having tried it) may want to rethink their stance. AT&T revealed at a recent conference that enterprise users now represent about 40 percent of iPhone buyers.

Admittedly, every new Android phone seems better than the last, and companies will have to consider the quality of AT&T's local coverage and the price of its plans on an individual basis; there's no mobile solution that's right for every person or firm.

Still, the "social" and user-friendly nature of the iPhone may be an advantage rather than a drawback when it comes to corporate representatives communicating with customers, considering that so many interactions take place on sites like Facebook and Twitter these days.

Also, since iPhones remain popular with consumers, a company might be able to use the devices to update its image, looking more young and hip than, say, the stereotypical BlackBerry owner.

It's something to keep in mind, anyway. Perhaps the most important point is just that enterprise messaging can be conducted using some phone at any time, and not only a desktop computer during office hours.
