Global Messaging Awards Distributed
By Doug Caverly Staff Writer Article Date: 2010-07-01 Sports fans love to watch their favorite athletes compete. Meanwhile, opposing teams study game footage for the sake of gaining the upper hand. Whether you consider yourself a friend or foe, then, it may be worth the average enterprise messaging professional's time to learn about the winners of the Global Messaging Awards. The awards, which were presented at the well-respected 51 Buckingham Gate hotel, were sponsored by 160Characters and Informa Telecoms & Media. Companies both large and small managed to pick up trophies. The "Innovation in Messaging" award, for example, went to Research in Motion for BlackBerry Messenger 5.0, and they don't come much bigger than that (at least in this messaging space). Other awards then went to organizations that perhaps aren't household names. Shorthand and mBlox jointly won the "Messaging Structure or Infrastructure" award, while Derdack GmbH came out on top with regards to the "Messaging Application or Service: Public Sector" competition. Next, ImpulsePay won the "Messaging Application: Business" award, Huawei won the "Messaging Application: Consumer" award, Comviva won the "Mobile Financial Services Solution" award, the Mobile Giving Foundation won the "Messaging Application or Service: Social Use" award, and mBlox and Arriva shared the "Effective Use of Mobile Ticketing" award. So consider either employing or imitating these companies, depending on which side of the transaction you're on. They should be good firms to focus on either way.
