ToIP To Make International SMS Cheaper
By Jeremy Muncy Staff Writer Article Date: 2011-04-22 Have you ever been hit with an insane text messaging bill while traveling abroad for business? Rebtel, a leader in the VoIP industry, recently introduced ToIP (Text-over-IP) which could greatly reduce the cost of your messaging while traveling. What is ToIP you ask? It's a new texting service that allows SMS messaging through local numbers over the Internet and also gives the provider ways of extending the savings to the consumer. "The launch of our Rebtel messaging API opens a huge opportunity for large SMS replacement providers like KiK, WhatsApp or group messaging services like TextPlus, GroupMe and others, to pass on huge cost-savings to their customers … we are the very first service provider to launch cheap international SMS through local numbers, and this is just the latest example of how Rebtel is committed to bringing innovation to market that benefits consumer's pocketbooks instead of carriers' profits", said Andreas Bernström, CEO of Rebtel. It's being reported that Rebtel's ToIP service is up 93% cheaper than AT&T and Verizon and 92.5% less than Sprint. "Smartphone users have been able to use a variety of apps to circumvent carriers' rip-off rates for international text messaging for quite some time," Bernström said. "Rebtel ToIP finally gives the same opportunity to feature phone users who wish to send texts abroad without incurring expensive charges each time." To get started, simply download the app from either the App Store, App World or Android Market. About the Author: Jeremy Muncy is a staff writer for WebProNews.com |
