Expanding Your Facebook Network For Business

You can use your Facebook to attract and engage your business' potential customers. However, this strategy can only work if you're connected to a lot of users.

Proactively Find New Friends

A maximum of 5,000 friends is allowed for a personal Facebook profile, in which you can optimize for your business' benefits. Using the Friend Finder, inviting friends by email, joining related groups and liking relevant page are ways to proactively find new friends on Facebook. Add those who are key influencers in your business' industry, and include a personal message whenever you send out a friend request. Just remember not to overdo it so that you won't be marked as spam.

Creating Friend Lists

If you're using your Facebook profile for business purposes, it's highly recommended to create a Friend Lists. This feature allows you to control which content your friends will see, filter your News Feed, and regulate friends who can see your availability for chat.

You can create a Friend List by going to your "Account", clicking "Edit Friends", and then selecting "Create New List". In the pop-up box, create a name for your Friend Lists and choose who among your friends will be included in that group. Every user is allowed to create 100 lists with 1,000 friends each. You can also add a friend to a multiple list; plus, you can also include a Facebook Page.

Refine Your News Feed

You can filter your News Feed stories by clicking the "Friends" link found at the side of your home page. When you choose a particular list, your News Feed will show content coming from your friends in that group only. You can also turn this into a default by right-clicking and opening your favorite Friend Lists in a new tab. Just simply bookmark the page and it'll be your default view the next time you visit your News Feed.

Control Your Chat Availability

It's good to be online for a selected group of friends, regardless if you're a fan of Facebook Chat or not. You can control your chat availability by clicking on the chat window found at the bottom right part of your screen. It will show your Friend Lists with a small "slider" at the side which turns green or grey when clicked. The green color indicates that you're online to a selected group of friends, while offline with the rest.

Promoting your business with your friends makes it easier to establish your online presence. In fact, it can "breed" you a product representative from the people that you already know. Expand your Facebook network now, and get them involved in promoting your brand.
